      Biggest Loser Run/Walk

      Its Running season again. we are excited to be a part of the Biggest Loser Run/walk event held in plattsburgh for a second year. Last year we had a great turn out,and this year lets make it bigger. This year we are co hosting a team with CVPH ECC department.       Busy Week for Crews
      04/23/14 - IAFF Local 2421
      Last week the Crews were busy. on April 15th a reported Structure fire was dispatched on Smith St.  and the first arriving engine 282 reported flames showing. Platoon 2 had a quick  knock down and other crews came in for overhaul. Several residents were checked out but were not transported.

      A Reminder to everyone that there is a burn ban in effect until May 15th. this does not include small campfires and cooking fires.       04/23/14 - New London Fire Fighters
      At 6:21pm on 4/22/14 Group 2 responded to a fire alarm activation at 47 Eugene O'Neill Dr (The Day) for a fire alarm activation. The fire alarm panel showed sprinkler activation and members encountered a hallway filled with smoke. A fire was located on the mezzanine level. BC Sargent added the remaining on duty units and also requested the Sub Base FAST Team.

      Ingrid Wend, 78, of North Port, FL, previously Prospect, CT and Danbury, CT passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014. Ingrid was born July 19, 1935, in Berlin, Germany, a daughter of the late Walter & Irma Bleich, She attended schools in Germany, graduating from Trade School to become a Beautician. She married Herman Wend, Jr. and they moved to America in 1961.

We would like to point out that these items were things organized and/or funded soley by Local 794 and are items that should continue to be brought to Local 794, not the New Idea Committee or Fire Admin.

      This past Saturday, in conjunction with City of SeaTac and Kent Fire Department PR staff, we hosted the annual event with great success. Our members have helped organize and participate in the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Angle Lake Park in SeaTac for many years. 100's of kids from the local community participated in the event.

      House Fire on Byng St.

      An early-morning fire destroyed a house in Coquitlam Monday morning. The fire broke out just after 5 a.m. causing extensive damage to the house and carport. The older wood frame home is located at Latimer Avenue and Byng Street. The main floor of the house was gutted and two cars outside were also burned. Everyone from the family of four inside the house escaped without injury.

      Illinois mayors from Rockford to Peoria reiterated their call Monday for lawmakers to overhaul local police and fire pension systems to avoid strains on municipal budgets, but there were few signs the Legislature would take up the issue anytime soon.

      6th Annual Art at The Lakes The Professional Sun Lakes Firefighters Local 3560 were out in force grilling hamburgers, hotdogs and selling T-Shirts for the citizens of Sun Lakes at the 6th Annual Art at The Lakes Festival.  Over 200 artists displayed and sold art such as paintings, sculptures, pottery, and jewelry to the public.

      Firefighters Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Captain Donald Eisenmenger.  Captain Eisenmenger passed away on April 20, 2014.  Captain Eisenmenger started with the Fire Department on December 4, 1956 and retired on October 31, 1992.   Funeral arrangements are pending.

      The Peoria Firefighters' Local 50 annual charity golf outing will be August 21, 2014 with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm. The format is a 4 man scramble. Cost is $85.00 per player.       At seven years old, Isaiah Harris is slowly losing his eyesight.  Born with Congeital Glaucoma, he has already undergone twentyfour surgeries.  He is due for another surgery soon and his family must travel to Portland frequently for surgeries and check-ups.
