Firefighter Michael Leonard Promotion 04/18/14 - New London Fire Fighters
Congratulations to FF Michael Leonard who will be promoted to Lieutenant on Friday April 25 at 1500hrs in Council Chambers. Lt. Leonard will begin a two week indoctrination period on Monday April 28th. Lt. Leonard will then be assigned to Group 2 A-11Lt.

Residents gathered on the sidewalks of the 600 block of West Madison Street in Ann Arbor Thursday evening as firefighters doused a basement fire.
The Ann Arbor Fire Department was called to the duplex home to extinguish the basement fire at 5:30 p.m.

Highrise fires call for a new approach 04/18/14 - International Association of Firefighters Local 1782
Smoke begins to billow out of an apartment on the 16th floor of a highrise on Alderson Avenue in Coquitlam. The first alarms start to ring. Coquitlam fire crews make their way to the scene. The fire was started by a plumbing contractor and has spread to one unit.
Most of the residents are in the lobby as crews arrive.

MDA Fill the Boot 04/17/14 - Arcadia Fire Fighters Association
The Arcadia Firefighters Association participated in a Fill-The-Boot drive to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
On Friday, April 11th, off-duty Arcadia Firefighters were at the intersection of Huntington Dr. and Baldwin Ave. from 9 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

BC Unit Clarification Hearing April 21st 04/17/14 - Medford Firefighters Local 1431
The hearing is confirmed for Monday, April 21, 2014 at 0930 in the Medford Room, 3rd floor at City Hall. The hearing will be conducted by an Attorney Law Judge (ALJ) from the Employment Relations Board (ERB) out of Salem. This will be an all day hearing and is an open hearing. All are encouraged to attend and you can come and go as you please.

McFarland elected Mayor of Murfreesboro
Shane McFarland will trade his seat on the City Council for the mayor’s post after rolling to victory in Tuesday’s election.
McFarland captured 5,315 votes, 68 percent, to City Councilman Ron Washington’s 2,474, 31.7 percent, in the mayoral race with 31 of 31 precincts counted and early voting totals in.

MURFREESBORO — Kim Lawson, a veteran of Nashville Fire Department, has been named Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s new assistant chief of medical services, according to a news release.
Lawson, who recently retired from the Nashville Fire Department after 34 years, will join the Murfreesboro department May 5.

Captain's Pinning and Swearing-in Ceremony 04/16/14 - IAFF Local 4652
Newly appointed Captain's Jeff Nawfel and James Moore participated in the departments first pinning and swearing-in ceremony last night at Town Hall. Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Karl Ekstedt, pinned the two with their Captain's badges. Family members were present to pin on the Captain's lapel pins. They were then sworn in by the Town to uphold the duties of a Captain.

Norwich Fire Goes to 3 Alarms 04/15/14 - IAFF Local 892
4 Shift was called out to 218 Washington St on 8:15am April 13th for a reported structure fire. Battalion 1 had heavy smoke in a 2 1/2 frame 100 year old Queen Anne style building, upon arrival. Two handlines were initially deployed, with the truck going to the roof. Mohegan Tribal FD stretched a third line and the fire quickly went to three alarms.
