      On August 17, 2014, IAFF members and their families gathered for the annual AFD Alarm Room Softball Game. Members from Station 13 and several retirees played in this year’s games.  This year was a huge success with a record turnout!       At least 7 fire departments and over 100 firefighters are out west of Redcliff this evening, battling multiple grass fires.   Cypress County’s Deputy Fire Chief Ray Gradwell says there are 7 different grass fires in the area, most of which were started by lightning. As of 8 o’clock Thursday evening, they were being held.
      Fire pots may be unsafe if not used properly

      The Medicine Hat Fire Department has sent out an immediate release that says fire pots can be a danger if not used properly. Three people were taken to hospital last week after a fire pot exploded because proper fuel had not been used resulting in the explosion.

      Scholten Hill was shut down during the morning commute when a pedestrian was hit by a truck. Around 8:30 this morning, a 65 year old man was crossing Carry Drive at Crestwood Drive when he was hit by a Ford F-150. The truck was turning left onto Carry Drive at the top of Scholten Hill. Police say the sun may have been a factor in obstructing the view of the driver.

      Local F-147 regrets to announce the passing of Eugene Regan, father of former Local F-147 member Tim Regan. Mr. Regan passed peacefully on August 8th. Mr. Regan was a U.S. Army veteran and just recently became a 60 year member of the Keport Fire Departement! Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tim, Pattie and the entire Regan family.

      Over 20 IAFF members, current and retired, volunteered for eight days at Great Lakes Burn Camp. GLBC is a week long camp for kids who are burn survivors. The entire camp is free. This year kids and campers came from Michigan as well as Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois. Ohio and Texas.
